Umesh Yadav Shares Insights On How To Get Kane Williamson Out Early In WTC Final

Team India will lock horns with New Zealand in the all-important ICC World Test Championship final at Southampton from June 18. Ahead of the clash, Umesh Yadav has revealed how to get Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson early and stated that Kane’s wicket holds the key for the opposition.

The veteran fast bowler Umesh has been named alongside the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammed Siraj in the squad for the World Test Championship final. Speaking ahead of the summit clash, Umesh Yadav lauded Kane Williamson for being the go-to man of the Black Caps across all formats.

Kane Williamson’s wicket is the key – Umesh Yadav

As India look to win the first-ever ICC World Test Championship, Umesh Yadav feels that silencing Williamson can help the Virat Kohli-led side in making early inroads against New Zealand. In an interview with The Telegraph, Umesh said that the Indian bowlers have a fair idea about Kane Williamson’s style of playing the game.

“We do have a fair idea about Kane’s game, though I don’t think he has too many weaknesses. Of course, any quality batsman can fall to a good delivery, so as a fast bowler, you should look to stick to your strong points and bowl more of those balls which can fetch you wickets. And yeah, we need to get Kane out as early as possible as that’ll surely benefit the team,” Yadav was quoted as saying.

Talking about New Zealand, Umesh Yadav said that the Kiwis are a strong side team with a deep batting lineup. The Indian pacer also praised the Trent Boult-starred bowling unit of the Black Caps and India will have to be disciplined to beat the Kiwis.

“But being Test players, we need to play with discipline and make sure we remain disciplined right throughout in all aspects of the game. The team that maintains such discipline in each and every session will prevail,” Umesh added.
