The semi-finalists of the Under 19 World Cup 2024 have been decided after Pakistan produced a thrilling 5-run win in the final Super Six game against Bangladesh played at Willmore Park, Benoni on 3rd February. It has been a thrilling Super Six match as India completed the Group unbeaten winning both matches against New Zealand and Nepal to finish at the top of Group 1.

Pakistan finished second in Group 2 defeating Ireland. They produced a superb performance to defend a low total. Group 2 saw Australia finish at number 1 spot winning against England and West Indies easily. South Africa finished with 6 points

Here we look at the performance of all the top four semi-finalists in the Under 19 World Cup 2024:

  1. India

India had a dominating performance in the Super Six stage with some brilliant performances. They began the Super Six stage with a resounding 214-run victory over New Zealand. Thanks to Musheer Khan’s century and Adarsh Singh’s quickfire, Uday Saharan’s knock helped India post 295 for 8. Raj Limbani took 2 wickets in the first over denting New Zealand’s batting.

It was a complete performance as the Indian team bowled out New Zealand for just 81 to seal a comprehensive victory. The second match saw India post 297 for 5 thanks to Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas centuries. In reply, Nepal was never in the chase and batted for a full fifty overs. India won the match by 132 runs to finish top of Group 1.

  1. Pakistan

Pakistan had a much tougher outing in the Super Six Stage. In the first match, Pakistan pace bowlers made the ball talk and skittled Ireland out for 181. Ahmad Hassan’s unbeaten half-century helped Pakistan register a thrilling 3-wicket win.

The second match saw Pakistan’s batting crumbling being dismissed for 155 against Bangladesh. Thanks to Ubaid Shah’s 5 for 44, Pakistan won the match by 5 runs and made it into the semi-finals of the Under 19 World Cup 2024.

  1. Australia

Group 2 saw Australia finish top of the points table. They began the Super Six stage with a dominating victory over England by 110 runs via the DLS method. Hugh Weibgen’s brilliant 120 helped Australia post a decent total of 266 for 6. In reply, Australia reduced England to 60 for 4 before rain arrived.

The target was revised to 215 in 24 overs as Australia bowled them out for 104 in 16.5 overs. Australia won the match by 110 runs. The second match was abandoned due to rain against West Indies. Sam Kontas led from the front with a brilliant century and helped Australia post 227 for 8. Australia reduced West Indies to 24 for 2 before rain stopped play.

  1. South Africa

The hosts South Africa began the Super Six stage with a dominating 9 wicket win over Zimbabwe. Thanks to superb bowling by Kwena Mapheka 5 for 34 in 10 overs, the hosts bowled them out for 102 and chased down the target in 13.3 overs.

South Africa cruised towards a brilliant victory over Sri Lanka in the last Super Six match. South Africa scored 232 for 8 in 50 overs before the bowlers skittled the Lankan team out for 113 with a big win by 119 runs.
