After a valiant effort from Steve Smith and Nathan Coulter-Nile Australia managed to put up a score of 288 on the board despite a top order collapse.
The West Indies middle order, particularly Shai Hope tried to absorb the pressure and lead his team to a victory. Though everyone expected a Gayle Storm, bad luck continued to haunt Gayle in one of the crucial matches of the tournament.
Openers Gayle and Lewis came out to chase with a huge responsibility on their shoulders. Though Lewis couldn”t disturb the scoreboard much, Gayle continued to show his dominance with a series of boundaries against Pat Cummins.
Meanwhile, Gayle was given out by the on-field Umpire twice in the over bowled by Mitchell Starc. He made sure to utilize DRS wisely as he remained in the crease. This gave a ray of hope for the fans to witness a special inning from him. However, in the next over of Starc turned out to be a one to debate.
How exactly do you miss *this* no ball? #CWC19 pic.twitter.com/vKrJgqka9B

Gayle was given out by the on-field umpire and he had no hesitation in taking the review again after two successful referrals. Unfortunately, he was fallen in the trap due to umpires” call.
Just saying again… another umpire on the ground standing behind the non striker.. he is just there for
No-Balls. Umpires miss up to 6 no balls a match I reckon.— Dean Jones AM (@ProfDeano) June 6, 2019
Clips suggested that the previous delivery to which he was dismissed was actually a huge front-foot no ball. This, in turn, made the cricket enthusiasts and few experts very frustrated as umpire Chris Gaffney was completely erroneous in noticing that no ball bowled by Starc.

Experts such as Dean Jones lashed out at both the umpires for not noticing the error. If the umpire signalled would have signalled it, the very next delivery would have been a free-hit and would have turned the course of the game.
This is a biggest @ICC #CWC19 event and to our stretch of imagination,it is the biggest no ball the umpire failed to see 🙄
Can't believe it

Cricket fans have already witnessed a lot of umpiring mistakes in the Indian Premier League and this incident left them so disappointed. The social media is trending with a lot of memes and trolls on umpires and it will be interesting how did it cost the match.
And the previous ball was a huge no ball. Which means the ball on which Gayle was declared out should've been a free hit ball. How can such grossly incompetent umpires be allowed?
