Venkatesh Iyer has provided clarification regarding an interview of him that has gained popularity on Instagram. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder conversed with commentator Sanjay Manjrekar in an interview on IPLT20.com before the match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

During the interview, Manjrekar inquired about Iyer’s preparations for the upcoming game, even reminding him about the half-century he scored earlier in IPL 2024 against RCB. While discussing RCB’s formidable bowling lineup, Iyer burst into laughter midway as Mohammed Siraj attempted to jest with him.

Siraj wasn’t seen on the screen, and only a portion of the clip showing Iyer laughing at RCB’s bowling attack became popular on Instagram. Iyer requested the owner of the Instagram profile not to share videos with incomplete narratives.

“Please don’t spread such things! The context was totally different,” Iyer commented. Below is a screenshot of his comment.

Although Venkatesh Iyer clarified that his remarks were being misunderstood, reels of his interview have become widely popular on Instagram.

Venkatesh Iyer failed to make a substantial score in the recent IPL 2024 match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore

Iyer has had success batting against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, but in the recent match between RCB and KKR on Sunday afternoon, he only managed to score 16 runs. Playing at the Eden Gardens, the left-handed batsman was dismissed by Cameron Green after scoring 16 runs off eight balls. He hit three fours during his brief innings.

Despite Iyer’s modest contribution, Kolkata Knight Riders posted a formidable total of 222/6 in 20 overs. In response, Royal Challengers Bangalore fought hard but ultimately fell short by just one run. KKR secured their fifth win of the tournament, further solidifying their hold on the second position in the standings. Kolkata’s next match is against Punjab Kings on Friday.
