Kings XI Punjab registered a 14-run victory over Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur today. Jos Butler’s knock went in vain as the middle order crumbled thus not able to reach the target on 20 overs.

Opting to field first, Rahane was flawless in executing the plans as he tried to contain the scoreboard by roaring his bowlers. Universe boss Chris Gayle however took charge as he amassed another fifty thus becoming the fastest player to register 4000 runs (112 innings). Sarfarz’s finishing skills helped the side post a score of 184/4 on the board.

Ajinkya Rahane and Jos Buttler started positively in the run chase. Buttler started this season from here he left in 2018, thus amassing a half century (69)in just 43 deliveries.

However, a rare instance was captured in the game today. Kings XI captain Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Jos Buttler in a very unusual manner till date. Ashwin mankaded Jos Buttler even before delivering the ball and a tensed moment prevailed in the game. Buttler was then given out by the officials. A war of words was shared between Ashwin and Buttler and this has now become a talking point in this IPL.

This incident is first of its kind in the cash-rich IPL and left the entire Royals camp depressed. When the game was on a flow and they were on a verge of pulling off a victory, momentum shifted. Even experts like VVS Laxman and Irfan Pathan were shell shocked by the incident in the post match presentation and mentioned that the opposition captain should have provided a warning to the batsman in this case.

Jos Buttler was absolutely livid and frustrated with this kind of dismissal as he was seen dejected at the Royals dugout. This will be one of the most ‘infamous’ moment of this IPL and it will be interesting how the cricketing fraternity responds to the same.
