Brendon McCullum reveals his all-time playing XI: Former New Zealand captain, Brendon McCullum has come up with his All-Time playing XI. The wicket-keeper’s team was posted by Lord’s Cricket Ground on their official YouTube channel. The sole criteria that has been followed in the selection is that the players should have played with or against McCullum during his career.

Sir Vivian Richards, the former West Indies legend and one of the most swashbuckling batsmen of his era, has been chosen to lead the side. The blistering right-handed Kiwi batsman picked Indian batting legeng Sachin Tendulkar and Chris Gayle as the openers. Ricky Ponting to walk in at his favourite position, number three, while he will be followed by Brian Lara and Sir Viv Richards.

The next slot were filled up by the greatest all-rounder and wicket-keeper of this generation – Jacques Kallis and Adam Gilchrist respectively. AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli could not find a place in this XI and this was an element of surprise for many. Other notable exclusions from this side are Glenn McGrath, Muttiah Muralitharan.

The bowling fast-bowling unit will be led by Australia’s pacer Mitchell Johnson. Apart from the southpaw, the most troublesome fast-bowling duo of the Blackcaps – Trent Boult and Tim Southee have been picked. Shane is the lone spinner in the side.

McCullum’s All Time XI: Chris Gayle, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara, Vivian Richards (C), Jacques Kallis, Adam Gilchrist, Mitchell Johnson, Shane Warne, Tim Southee, Trent Boult.
