England captain Eoin Morgan was seen in full flow during the World Cup match against Afghanistan played at Old Trafford, Manchester on Tuesday. It was a superb batting effort by Morgan who came at the crease after the fall of Jonny Bairstow wicket. Root and Bairstow added 120 runs for the 2nd wicket.

Morgan came to the crease and took on Afghanistan bowlers right from word go. It was an amazing display of batting by England captain who showed his class. The captain of the England team reached his fifty off just 36 balls. After reaching his fifty, Morgan took off like anything and smashed Afghanistan bowlers to all parts of the ground, to reach his century off 57 balls. He continued to pile on the misery for Afghanistan with some brilliant six hittings.

England captain Eoin Morgan was finally dismissed for a brilliant 148 off 71 balls. In his innings of 148 runs, he hit 17 sixes and 4 fours. By the virtue of hitting 17 sixes, Eoin Morgan broke the record of Rohit Sharma of most sixes in ODI innings. It was an exceptional display by Morgan and Root who added 189 runs for the 3rd wicket. Moeen Ali also scored a quick fire 31 off 15 balls to help England post a massive total of 397 for 6.

The target of 398 runs to win was beyond the reach of Afghanistan. England won the match by 150 runs as they restricted Afghanistan to 247 for 8 in 50 overs. For England, Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid took 3 wickets each.

For his brilliant knock of 148, Eoin Morgan was named the man of the match. With this win, England has moved to the top of the points table. They will take on Sri Lanka in their next match on 21st June.
