Australian bowlers have been spitting fire against the English line-up right from the start of the innings. Defending a target of 286, they started making an impact from the first over. Jason Beherendorff and Mitchell Starc gave the initial breakthroughs with the new ball as the top-order had no clue to tackle them. Morgan, Root, James Vince was sent back to the hut in succession and this created dull faces in the English camp.
One of the most talking deliveries would be the dismissal of Ben Stokes. Starc”s 145kmph Yorker was enough to trouble Stokes who looked in a great nick. The stumps crumbled and Stokes was completely deceived by the delivery. Prior to the dismissal, Ben Stokes ” was enjoying a good outing with Chris Woakes and Jos Buttler who were on the way of resurrecting their chances of winning.
Starc has always been the man of big tournaments for the Australian side. It is to be noted that he was adjudged the Man of the Series in 2015 World Cup and even this season he is leading the charts with 18 scalps. Starc wasn”t a part of several tournaments before the tournament as he was down with injuries.
A win in this game will almost ensure a berth to the semifinals spot for the Australians whereas the hosts will have the constraint to register two victories against India and Kiwis. This also depends on the results of other fixtures.
