India’s vice-captain and batting spearhead Virat Kohli, who was seen shattering records at the MCG shut down Australia’s seamer James Faulkner in the most epic way after the latter provoked him. Kohli became fastest batsman to smash 24th ODI century and 7000 runs en route his amazing knock.
James Faulkner tried to sledge Kohli when the latter was on his way to another superb century but the star batsman provided a perfect response. The heated moment of the match happened in the 35th over and was picked up by the stumps microphones. James Faulkner was returning to his bowling mark when Kohli completed a single to reach the non-striker’s end. Although Faulkner”s initial words were not clear, Kohli”s reply to the southpaw was bang-on! Kohli’s reply was audibly recorded saying “You”re wasting your energy. There”s no point. I”ve smashed you enough in my life. Just go and bowl”. Faulkner, whose strategy backfired, went back to the bowling crease.
Virat Kohli then did not lose his concentration and went on to hit a brilliant run-a-ball knock of 117. The match became interesting at some moment in Australia’s chase but magnificent Maxwell sealed the deal for his team.
