Today”s big news came as a humongous blow to all Indians. Star opening batsman, Shikhar Dhawan was ruled of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup. It is extremely heartbreaking to see someone in as mighty form as Shikhar Dhawan to get ruled out in the center stage of world cricket.
In case you missed it, Dhawan was hit on the thumb in the game against Australia at The Oval off Pat Cummins. Even after getting hit, he batted with a broken thumb and scored a match winning hundred for his side.
On Wednesday, Shikhar Dhawan was officially ruled out of the tournament. Rishabh Pant is called the replacement for the injured opener.
Shikhar has been the “Man of ICC tournaments” for India in the past. His stellar performances make his void a difficult one to fill. He was the highest scorer in the 2013 and 2017 editions of the Champions Trophy. In the Cricket World Cup 2015, he was the highest run scorer for Team India.
Team has found a new opener in terms of KL Rahul for the remainder of the tournament. He impressed in the game against Pakistan on Sunday at Manchester.
World Cup is a quadrennial tournament. Each cricketer works immensely hard to get a place in the World Cup squad. After working so hard no cricketer wants to face an injury.
In the video, Shikhar is seen thanking all his fans for all the love and support given to him. It is emotionally shattering for someone of the stature of Shikhar Dhawan, to get ruled out.
Check out his sentimental message for his fans.

I feel emotional to announce that I will no longer be a part of #CWC19. Unfortunately, the thumb won’t recover on time. But the show must go on.. I'm grateful for all the love & support from my team mates, cricket lovers & our entire nation. Jai Hind!🙏 🇮🇳 pic.twitter.com/zx8Ihm3051

Even after getting ruled out of the tournament, Dhawan is positive of recovery and is seen encouraging his teammates to win the World Cup.
We all wish Shikhar Dhawan a speedy recovery.
A quick question for all you people out there.
With Pant coming into the side it will be interesting to see will get a go directly into the XI or will he have to wait for his turn?
