Harmanpreet Kaur made her debut in Women’s Big Bash 2 season last year. The hard hitter played for Sydney Thunder in that tournament. It was the second season of Big Bash League. In the opening day of the 2016-17 season, Sydney Thunder Women took on Melbourne Stars Women at North Sound, Oval Sydney. Despite Melbourne Stars Women winning the match, Harmanpreet Kaur had a good debut scoring 47 runs in 28 balls.
Melbourne Stars Women won the toss and elected to bat. Contributions from Meg Lanning, Katie Mack, Emma Inglis helped them to post 147 for 8 in 20 overs. Sydney Thunder Women started well with the first wicket putting on 50 runs for the first wicket, soon lost wickets at regular intervals to be at 87 for 4 in the 15th over. Kaur tried her level best to chase down the target. On the last ball of 19th over, Harmanpreet Kaur hit a brilliant lofted cover drive between the audience and spectators left the Melbourne Star bowler Gemma Triscari laugh with the way she hit the stroke. Sydney Thunder lost the match by 6 runs.
It was a successful season for Kaur who played well in the WWBL 2. The Women’s Big Bash League helped Kaur to improve her game.
