Virat Kohli The name is enough to cultivate the seeds of aggression and passion into the minds of budding cricketers. He has been such an asset to the team since his entry to the world cricket. 35 ODI centuries at the age of 29. Pretty sums up the hard work and the character he exhibited on the field over the years.
Though his century at Hobart against the mighty Lankans remains as the ruthless innings ever played, here”s a video of the young champ when he scored his maiden century at Under – 19 World Cup 2008.
Kohli hit a fantastic 106 off 108 deliveries against Windies in the group stage of the tournament. This knock won the match for the side by 59 runs. It is to be noted that India was undefeated in the 2008 Under-19 World cup under his captaincy. They finished top in the group stage and comprehensive victories in quarters and semis ensured them the “road to finals” a smoother one.
Kohli made his international debut in the same year after the Under-19 world cup triumph. He earned a surprise call-up for the limited overs series against Sri Lanka.
India won the cup 3-2 and he ended up amassing 159 runs in five matches including a half-century. Several experts then praised his shot selection and hitting skills. Needless to say that he has been the “best chaser” in the limited overs.
