With the recent upliftment of Indian Women”s cricket pre and post-India”s fantastic run through to the World Cup final in 2017, signs of women”s game growing are being seen ever so widely.
While the BCCI has not really expressed interest in mushrooming an IPL style tournament for women”s cricketers instead the greater focus is on developing the game at the grassroots levels and facilitating the women”s cricket further.
Various women”s cricketers have now housed hold names in India the likes of Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami, Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma, Smriti Mandana and Veda Krishnamurthy.
These players are also popular amongst the T20 teams in overseas women”s leagues like Women”s Big Bash league and in England as well.
Harmanpreet Kaur and Veda Krishnamurthy are currently in Australia playing the league as Harman is playing for Sydney Thunders and Veda for Hobart Hurricanes. While Mandana has played for Brisbane Heat in the past.
Both have been playing pivotal roles for their respected sides with the bat and in the field for the current season.
Recently a video went viral amongst the fans were fielding at boundary line in a game playing Brisbane Heat, Veda took an outstanding catch at the mid wicket area when she dived forward beautifully and completed the catch.
She very nonchalantly threw the ball away while her teammates gathered around all over her to celebrate. It was really one of the best catches taken in the tournament.
Veda has always come across as a cricketer with a lot of flair and style which makes her eye-catching even her batting is very famous for her extravagant big hitting.
Hence the video just added to her aura as a cricketer which was very well appreciated by whoever saw the video.
