Former India captain Virat Kohli and his wife, Anushka Sharma, are marking their seventh wedding anniversary today, Wednesday, December 11, 2024. The couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at Lake Como, Italy, in 2017, after several years of dating.
Having lived in Mumbai for the initial years of their marriage, they recently relocated to London, UK. A video circulating on X shows the couple outside the team hotel in Brisbane during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. They kept it casual with their outfits for the special day.

Kohli and Anushka are parents to two children. Their first child, a daughter named Vamika, was born on January 11, 2021. They welcomed their second child, a son named Akaay, on February 15, 2024.
The renowned couple has been enjoying their stay in Australia since the opening Test in Perth. Kohli, who scored his 30th Test century in the series opener—his first Test hundred in 16 months—credited Anushka for her support. Speaking to Sportskeeda, he said:
“Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin. She knows everything that goes on behind the scenes. Knows what goes on in the head when you’re not performing well.”
Ravi Shastri allowed Virat Kohli to be with Anushka Sharma on the 2014-15 Australia tour
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri revealed that he permitted Virat Kohli to have his then-girlfriend, Anushka Sharma, join him on the 2014-15 Australia tour. Despite the rule allowing only wives, Shastri made a special exception. He shared this during an interview with Fox Sports (via NDTV):
“I remember when I was the coach in 2015. He (Virat) wasn’t married then. He was dating Anushka. He came and he said – only wives are allowed. Can I get my girlfriend in here? I said sure but he said that the board is not allowing it. So, I made the call.”
“She came and she joined us there. In the very first match – the Boxing Day Test, he scored 160 [169 in Melbourne to be precise]. The same scenes happened. The flying kiss went out just like yesterday. So, she is a big support,” he added.
Virat Kohli will aim to make an impact in the third Test against Australia, set to begin in Brisbane on December 14.
