Virat Kohli Drops Six Spots, Rohit Sharma Exits Top 30 In Latest Rankings Before BGT 2024-25 3rd Test

Star Indian batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have slipped in the latest ICC Men’s Test batting rankings, leaving Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant as the only Indians in the top 10.

Virat, after scoring a brilliant century in Perth, struggled in Adelaide with scores of 7 and 11 in the two innings. As a result, he has dropped six places in the latest ICC Men’s Test batting rankings and is now ranked 20th with 661 rating points.

Indian Test captain Rohit Sharma, who returned for the pink-ball Test in Adelaide after missing the Perth match, fell five spots and is now outside the top 30. Rohit had a tough time in Adelaide, scoring 3 and 6 in the two innings. He is now ranked 31st with 595 rating points.

The form of Virat and Rohit, two of India’s most experienced batters, is a concern ahead of the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test, with both taking notable hits in the latest ICC Men’s Test batting rankings.

A New Leader In The ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings

England’s Joe Root has lost his top spot in the ICC Men’s Test batting rankings. Root, who had surpassed Kane Williamson earlier this year, has now slipped to second place. Taking the top spot is his England teammate Harry Brook, who has been in outstanding form.

Brook’s recent performance against New Zealand in Wellington, including scores of 123 and 55 in England’s commanding 323-run win in the second Test, propelled him to the No. 1 position.

Brook delivered standout performances with scores of 123 and 55 in England’s dominant 323-run win over New Zealand in the second Test. He now holds 898 rating points, edging past Root (897) by a single point to claim a narrow lead.

Kane Williamson holds onto the third spot, with Yashasvi Jaiswal staying in fourth. Travis Head (up six places), Kamindu Mendis (up one), and Temba Bavuma (up three) occupy the fifth, sixth, and seventh spots, respectively.

The top 10 is rounded out by New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell in eighth, India’s Rishabh Pant in ninth, and Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel in tenth.
