Former Indian captain Virat Kohli missed the first ODI against England due to the mild groin strain that he sustained during the third T20I against England. Usually, it’s very rare that Virat Kohli to misses an international match due to injury. Shreyas Iyer replaced Virat Kohli at the No.3 position in the playing XI for the first ODI. 

Even though Virat Kohli didn’t play the first ODI at the Oval, he was present with the Indian team at the stadium during the first ODI. Virat Kohli also did a few stretching exercises before the start of the game. He also clicked pictures with fans in the stadium and gave them autographs too.

Kohli didn’t disappoint the fans who came into the stadium to see glimpses of their superhero. Virat Kohli has a huge fan following in England too. Earlier too, Kohli was frequently seen getting clicked with fans on the streets of London. It would be interesting to see if Kohli would get fit till the 2nd ODI or not. Cricket fans are eagerly waiting for Virat to make a great comeback.

“I don’t know the status of injury” – Jasprit Bumrah updates about the availability of Virat for 2nd ODI

Virat Kohli missing the first ODI was a big setback for the Indian team before the match. But the Indian team still managed to win the first ODI against England by 10 wickets in absence of Kohli. The Jasprit Bumrah-led bowling attack of India completely shattered the batting line-up of England.

Bumrah picked up six wickets in the match and grabbed the Player of the Match award for his outstanding spell. Talking about the availability of Virat for the 2nd ODI, Bumrah said, “I don’t know the status of his injury because I did not play the last game (3rd T20I). Hopefully, he recovers, but I really don’t know the extent of his injury.”
