Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been ranked as the most valued celebrity for the fourth consecutive year in a row in 2020. His brand value stands to be massive UDS 237.7 million. In the process, he has overtaken Bollywood superstars Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh according to an industry report. The Indian skipper is the only name outside the Indian movie fraternity.

Kohli’s brand value has remained the same while there is a drop in the brand value of other celebrities on the same list. Even COVID was not able to hit the market of the Indian skipper.

“While Kohli’s brand remained the same, the top 20 celebs lost 5 percent of their combined value to USD 1 billion in 2020,” said Duff and Phelps, which specializes in brand valuation, in a statement as quoted by The Indian Express.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar retains the second position with a brand value of USD 118.9 million, a jump of 13.8 per cent, Ranveer Singh also retains his third position again for the second year, with a brand value of USD 102.9 million, the agency said in its recent report.

As per the study, the young millennials like Indian skipper Virat Kohli were in higher demand during the pandemic.

“These rising millennial celebrities were in greater demand during the pandemic owing to their popularity among the youth,” MD of Duff and Phelps said.

Meanwhile, the Indian skipper is making a comeback to lead the Indian team in the upcoming Test series against England starting from February 5 in Chennai. The first Test will be played behind closed doors while 50 percent crowds will be allowed from the second Test onwards.

England play India between February 5 to March 28 for four Tests, five T20Is, and three ODIs. Chennai will host the first two Tests. The final two Tests will be played at the newly built stadium in Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad will host the T20I series followed by Pune for the ODI series.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is eyeing a major record in the first Test against England. He is just 14 short of overtaking former West Indian skipper Clive Llyod in the list of most runs scored by a Test captain. Virat has had a good run in the last two-Test series against England. After Kohli’s forgetful England tour of 2014, he has scored over 1000 runs in the next two series against the opposition. Virat Kohli scored 655 runs in the 2016-17 series followed by 593 runs in the 2018 series.
