Sachin Tendulkar, the iconic figure in Indian cricket, expressed delight at Virat Kohli surpassing his record for the most ODI centuries. Tendulkar mentioned that Kohli still has a considerable amount of cricket and runs ahead of him.
Despite India facing another heartbreak in the ICC Cricket World Cup final held at home, Kohli’s remarkable performance throughout the tournament, breaking multiple batting records, including becoming the first batter to achieve 50 ODI centuries, left a lasting impression on fans.

Sachin expressed his satisfaction that the record, initially set by an Indian (himself), is now retained by another Indian, Virat. The cricket legend believes that Virat Kohli still has much to contribute to Indian cricket.
“I am so pleased he has been able to do that. I am sure that the journey has not stopped. There is a lot of cricket left in him, a lot of runs left in him. A lot of hunger and desire to achieve more for the country.”
”I am happy that the record continues to stay with India. I have always said that the record belongs to India and it has stayed with India,” said Sachin in a video by ESPNCricinfo.

In this edition of the Cricket World Cup, Virat surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup, establishing a new record for the most runs in a single tournament. Additionally, he exceeded Sachin’s tally for the most fifty-plus scores in a single World Cup.
In the 27 ODIs played this year, Virat Kohli has amassed 1,377 runs at an impressive average of 72.47 and a strike rate exceeding 99. Within 24 innings, he notched up six centuries and eight fifties, achieving a high score of 166*.
