“Virat Kohli Has Really Worked Towards Winning Overseas” : Former South African Pacer Allan Donald

India in Test matches under Virat Kohli has touched some unparallel heights. They have won Test series against all the major Test-playing nations, barring South Africa. Thus this upcoming Test series is being seen as India’s Final Frontier, something which Kohli is keen on conquering.

India have won Test series in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka under Kohli’s captaincy. They also won in Australia twice and are currently leading England 2-1 with the final Test to be played sometime next year.

Allan Donald spoke about Virat Kohli having worked towards making it a point to win Test series in overseas conditions. At home, India are unbeatable and have won 14 consecutive Test series since 2013. The latest was against New Zealand in November earlier this year.

Donald believes the India Test captain has worked on just that in the three years since that 2-1 loss in South Africa.

This Is Going To Be A Marquee Series: Allan Donald

“Kohli’s comments a few years ago were that you’ll never be classed as a great side if you don’t win away from home and that has been something he really worked towards. You saw them win in Australia and also reach the WTC Final.”

“There is no doubt this is one of the marquee series in the world game and we can look forward to an incredible battle over the summer. This is a quality Indian team that is here. I’m looking forward to it” he further added.

The former South African pacer further said that the team’s batting line-up will decide the fate of the series. Bowling is the strength of the side despite Anrich Nortje being ruled out of the series with an injury.

Proteas Batting Line-Up Will Be Tested: Allan Donald

“Both teams line up really well, both have strong bowling line-ups and that will mean the batting on both sides will be tested. Our batting has lost some key players in the last couple of seasons. There’s no hiding from the fact that it’s a young line-up and they will be tested by the Indian attack,” he said.

“For me that is where the series will be decided. In the last few seasons, we haven’t scored enough runs and that will be the challenge. If we can put the runs on the board, we undoubtedly have the bowlers who can take 20 wickets” Donald concluded saying.
