With just a week to go before the World Test Championship final, rumors have it that Indian skipper Virat Kohli was hit by a bouncer from Mohammed Shami during Team India’s practice session at Southampton. If those reports are to be believed that Kohli will be out for four to six weeks due to the injury. However, nothing is confirmed as of now regarding Kohli’s injury as the Indian cricket fans are patiently waiting for the final to begin.

A video clip from Aaj Tak’s official Youtube channel went viral where sports journalist Vikrant Gupta disclosed the news regarding Virat Kohli’s injury during a discussion with a panel of experts. Meanwhile, Team India’s mandatory quarantine is over and they are practicing in groups.

The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli practiced as a group earlier today. The players still have a week to get accustomed to the conditions ahead of the big final. Kohli has not won an ICC title as captain yet and this will be his very first title as captain if he wins it.

Meanwhile, there are injury concerns in the New Zealand camp too. Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the second Test against England which started earlier today in Edgbaston. The Kiwi skipper has concerns with his elbow and coach Gary Stead said that it was a sensible decision to rest him before the big final.

“It’s not an easy decision for Kane to have to miss a Test, but we think it’s the right one. He’s had an injection in his elbow to relieve the irritation he’s been experiencing when he bats and a period of rest and rehabilitation will help maximise his recovery,” Gary Stead, New Zealand’s head coach, said.
