Former New Zealand skipper Richard Hadlee has praised Indian captain Virat Kohli saying that he is ‘responsible’ for ensuring the competitiveness in Indian cricket which makes them ‘one of the best teams in the world.’ His comments come in as Team India are busy preparing themselves for the WTC final. This will be Kohli’s maiden ICC title as captain if he wins it.
Meanwhile, in an interaction with the ICC, Richard Hadlee had words of praise for the Indian skipper and the way he approaches the game. Hadlee termed Kohli as a ‘passionate and competitive’ cricketer who has a ‘strong desire’ to achieve success for himself as well as his team.

“There are millions of Indian fans who idolize him which puts great pressure on him. Virat is responsible for ensuring that Indian cricket remains competitive and be one of the best teams in the world,” Hadlee said in an official ICC media release.
Hadlee said that Virat Kohli’s passion and desire to win games makes him a special cricketer. Incidentally, the Black Caps will play two Test matches against England leading to the title clash while it will be India’s first game of the tour.

“I see Virat as being a very passionate and competitive cricketer with a strong desire for himself and the team to succeed. He is a proud man and a world-class player, a delight to watch. The pressure and expectations on him to ‘win’ is enormous” said Hadlee.
The former New Zealand great also kept his opinion on his favorites to win the ICC WTC final. He said its difficult too pick a winner given that both teams are evenly matched.
“Both teams have high-class batsmen so it will be an interesting game to watch. It is too difficult to call a winner at this stage,” he said.
