Virender Sehwag Jumps In Support Of Out Of Form Virat Kohli

Team India skipper Virat Kohli had a forgettable tour of New Zealand managing only one half-century throughout the series which comprised of five T20Is, three ODIs, and two Test matches. His techniques were also questioned from certain sections and compared to 2014 when James Anderson made Kohli his bunny during the England tour. Despite all, Kohli has got the backing of former swashbuckling India opener Virender Sehwag who is confident of the talismanic run-scorer bouncing back with a bang.

Kohli managed to score only 218 runs across 11 innings during his visit to the land of the Kiwis. He struggled against the lateral seam movement and veteran seamer Tim Southee consistently got the better of him. The 218 runs were his lowest tally on a tour in which the Men in Blues have played all formats of the sport.

While he was dropped from the No.1 ICC Test Rankings, Virat Kohli has got the support of many former cricketers along with Virender Sehwag. The former batsman sounded confident about Kohli coming out of the lean patch. Sehwag also claimed great players including Sachin Tendulkar, Steve Smith, Brett Lee have all gone through a poor run and thrived from it.

“Every player has to go through this phase. Sachin (Tendulkar), (Brian) Lara, (Steve) Smith have all experienced poor form. I faced and came out of it without compromising with my natural game. When countering difficult times, you have to be patient and back your instincts. I am sure Kohli will find his way back. He is too good to allow this bad patch to continue.” Sehwag said as quoted by Times Now.

Meanwhile, India will look to put behind their drubbing back when they resume their home led against South Africa for a three-match ODI series starting from March 12. Virat Kohli will look to hit the right chords in the three ODIs before the start of the Indian Premier League
