The IPL 2020 is in full flow as all the stars are showcasing their unbelievable skills in front of the world. IPL is surely a stage where talent meets opportunity as Indian youngsters compete with the best international players.

Recently storied former player and current commentator, Sunil Gavaskar was in admiration for a young batting sensation. He also narrated an amusing episode with former India batting legend Gundappa Viswanath who also acknowledged the talent of an Indian youngster by seeing him perform in IPL 2020.

Devdutt Padikkal Impresses Gavaskar And Viswanath

The talented young batsman is none other than the new RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal. The southpaw impressed everyone with his majestic batting in his debut match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020.

“When he nods you know there is a gem there. He did that with Rahul Dravid, KL Rahul. All he did was nod his head when I asked about Padikkal”, Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

The 19-year-old instantly made headlines as he looked the part in his very first match of IPL 2020. Before IPL began in the UAE, Padikkal was one young Indian player that everyone was looking forward to performing after his exceptional record in domestic T20 cricket.

Meanwhile, Padikkal scored a match-winning 56 in his maiden match by playing fearless attacking cricket. After the match, his opening partner Aaron Finch too commended him as he was in awe of his composure under pressure.

“His composure under pressure was really important and at the start of the innings he was a little bit nervous but he played his natural game,” Aaron Finch had said in a virtual press conference after the match.

Furthermore, Gavaskar was all compliments for Padikkal in his introduction match of IPL in the commentary box. The youngster missed out in his second outing as he will now be seen in action against Mumbai Indians on 28 September (Monday).
