Team India skipper Rohit Sharma wants to make history in the upcoming Test series against South Africa, which kicks off on Tuesday, December 26 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. He expressed that he wants to achieve what no other Indian team has managed to do in South Africa in the past.

India has never won a Test series in the South African conditions. They have played 23 Test matches there, with only four wins to their name. The upcoming series will be Rohit Sharma’s first Test series as a captain in South Africa. He is ready for the challenge and is keen to break the jinx.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference on the eve of the Test match, the Indian skipper said, “Want to achieve what nobody has achieved in this part of the world.”

It’s the hardest place to bat: Rohit Sharma ahead of the South Africa Test series

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma expressed that South Africa is the hardest place for a batter. He added that he is looking forward to the upcoming challenge. The right-handed batter will look to improve his record in the South African conditions. In four matches, he averages 15.37, scoring 123 runs. Talking about the challenges, Rohit Sharma said,

“As a batter, it’s always a challenge here in South Africa. It’s the hardest place to bat. I look forward to the challenge.”

“That’s a challenge. When we went to Australia, England, South Africa it was a challenge. For them also, who are coming for the first time, it’ll be a challenge. The bowlers dominate here a lot. The lateral movement the seamers get. The wickets get difficult later on as the cracks open and invariable bounce. It’ll be nice for all of us to put our hands up for the challenge,” Rohit further said.
