India’s famous spinner Ravichandran Ashwin retired from international cricket on Wednesday, 18th December, which merger that he came back to Chennai on Thursday, 19th December. He, Ashwin, got a warm welcome as well as a heroic one upon arriving at his residence. There were a lot of traditional tunes as was welcomed with small garlands and hugs from his parents.

While leaving the airport, Ashwin did not play his press briefing but later addressed few reporters at his residence. The sudden retirement of the 38-year-old cricketer has raised eyebrows, and the father of two has much to say regarding his decision. With Ashwin gone from international cricket, his achievements will be sorely missed, and he has an illustrious career to his name.

The Tamil Nadu bowler, who has been acquired by CSK for the whopping amount of INR 9.75 crore at the recently held IPL super auction, said to the waiting mediapersons outside his residence that he cherishes the opportunity to play for the franchise for as long as possible.

“I’m going to play for CSK, and don’t be surprised if I aspire to play as long as I can,” Ashwin said.

He added, “I am going to play for CSK, and don’t be surprised if I try and aspire to play for as long as I can. I don’t think Ashwin the cricketer is done. I think Ashwin the Indian cricketer, has probably called it time. That’s it.”

Ashwin unceremoniously quit international cricket on Wednesday, 18th December itself, immediately after the last proceeding of the third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Four days to the same Test, he walked to the reporters and informed them that he had made up his mind to retire.
