Washington Sundar Reveals How Many Times He Got Virat Kohli Out In Nets

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Washington Sundar has revealed how many times he has got Virat Kohli out in the practice sessions. Kohli is arguably the best batter of the modern era.

The talented India batter made his debut for India in August 2008 after leading the U19 team to victory in the ICC U19 World Cup 2008. Since then, there has been no looking back for the cricketer from Delhi. Currently, he is the only batter to average over 50 in all three formats of the game.

Virat Kohli has represented India in 91 Test matches and 254 One Day Internationals scoring a whopping 7490 and 12169 runs respectively. The 32-year-old has also featured in 90 T20 Internationals collecting 3159 runs at a strike rate of 139 and an average of 52.6. With so much pedigree under his belt, it is a difficult task for the bowlers to dismiss the India skipper.

I would be happy if I get Kohli out once in every two sessions – Washington Sundar

The same is the case for young Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar. During ESPNCricinfo’s ’25 Questions’ chat show, Sundar was asked how many times has he been able to dismiss the skipper at the nets. To this, the 21-year-old heaped praises on his skipper saying that Virat is the King of cricket and he hasn’t succeeded in picking his wicket often.

The all-rounder from Tamil Nadu also added he would be happy to get Virat Kohli out once in every two net sessions.

“Not too often. He is the king of cricket. I don’t think I would get him out every session. Probably once in every two sessions, if I could get him out, I would be happy,” Washington Sundar said.

Washington Sundar and Virat Kohli will be next seen flying to the UK for the World Test Championship final followed by the five-match Test series against England. The entire Indian contingent will undergo quarantine in Mumbai before flying out of the country on June 2.
