Comparisons between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam has been a long-standing subject of debate ever since the latter’s entry into international cricket. Both are seen as modern batting legends and a fab 5 of the current iconic crickets. Now former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram joined the bandwagon and has given his opinion on the same. Talking to ANI, Akram spoke on a variety of issues between India and Pakistan cricket.

Talking to ANI, Akram said that Azam is still a newcomer in international cricket but has shown consistency in international cricket.

“I wouldn’t like to make any comparison but having said that, I would like to add that Babar Azam is an exceptional talent, he has shown his excellence in all formats, but in patches. I would be very happy if he can see the comparison positively and becomes consistent in his performance like Kohli,” he said as quoted by The New Indian Express.

He also voiced his opinion on the India and Pakistan players playing in the same T20 league by overhauling all cross-border and political tension between the two countries.

“I have always believed that sports shouldn’t be a victim of politics but that is a government subject of both countries and it won’t be apt for me to say anything. But as you said in the question itself, yes IPL is one of the most competitive domestic leagues in the cricketing world and I wish Pakistan youngsters get to be a part of it and I also wish to see Indian players playing in PSL” said Akram.

Meanwhile, in the third ODI between Pakistan and Zimbabwe in Rawalpindi, Zimbabwe have managed to beat Pakistan in the Super Over after tieing the game in the first 100 overs. The Men in Green won the ODI series 2-1. A three-match T20I series follows the ODI series.
