Wasim Jaffer was recently in the news for supposedly endorsing the Muslim players as the head coach of Uttarakhand. After these accusations, Jaffer immediately resigned as the head coach of Uttarakhand. Now Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has commanded an inquiry into Wasim Jaffer’s resignation as the head coach of the state team amid charges of religious bent against him.
It was believed that Jaffer showed religious bias in the team selection and also brought a maulvi in the dressing room. After this, the former India cricketer straightaway resigned from his post earlier this month. Jaffer was accused of bringing a maulvi in the bio-bubble of the Uttarakhand side. Nevertheless, Jaffer received backing from the Uttarakhand players as well as from former India players such as Anil Kumble and Mohammad Kaif.
Uttarakhand CM Orders Probe Into Wasim Jaffer’s Resignation
The CM of Uttarakhand ordered the probe after a committee of the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) met him on Monday. CM Rawat after the meet confirmed discussing Wasim Jaffer’s departure and a probe will be handled into the matter.
“It was a routine meeting in which the Jaffer case had also come up. If we receive any complaint, the matter will be probed”, CM Rawat was quoted as saying by Times of India.
Meanwhile, after resignation, Jaffer claimed that interference & biasedness of selectors and secretary in the selection matters for non-deserving players led to him separating away from the Uttrakhand side.
“I feel really sad for the players (in the team) as I genuinely think that they have a lot of potential and can learn so much from me but are denied with this opportunity because of so much interference & biasness of selectors and secretary in the selection matters for non-deserving players”, Jaffer wrote in his email.
