The first test match between England and India was hampered due to frequent rain interruptions. The match ended in a draw as day match five was called off. The Lord’s test too has witnessed some rain.

Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer shared a meme to express the frustration of Indian fans due to the rainy and cloudy weather in England. Jaffer wrote, 1st test: Rain saved England 2nd test: India Batting: Cloudy England batting: Sunny India Batting: Cloudy #ENGvsIND”

The meme showed Indian fans saying to the English weather, “Jo takleef deni hai wo aap de chuke” (You have given us enough trouble already).

At Trent Bridge, India needed 157 runs on the last day with five wickets in hand to go one up in the series, before the match was called off. At Lord’s, it hasn’t rained much but the conditions have been overcast.

England pushes India on the back foot at Lord’s

Sam Curran

The Indian team is in a spot of bother having lost their top three batters in the first session on day four at the Lord’s cricket ground. Mark Wood dismissed both the Indian openers. KL Rahul edged a back-of-length delivery to Jos Buttler on 5, while Rohit Sharma was off a bouncer by Moeen Ali on 21.

India’s skipper Virat Kohli looked confident at the crease. He slammed a few boundaries, before poking at an away delivery off Sam Curran’s bowling. After Virat Kohli’s dismissal, India’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane joined Cheteshwar Pujara at the crease. Both Rahane and Pujara are in search of runs in this test match to secure their place in the team. At lunch, India was 56 at the loss of three wickets, leading by 29 runs in the match.
