England and Netherlands are facing each other in a three-match ODI series, which is part of the ICC ODI Super League. The Netherlands won the toss and decided to bowl first. Philip Salt, Dawid Malan and Jos Buttler scored centuries as the visitors posted a record total

The England innings saw 26 sixes being hit. However, one massive six from Dawid Malan caught the attention of cricket fans. In the eighth over of the game, Malan danced down the track and hit Pieter Seelaar for a mammoth six. The southpaw hit a six towards the long-off area.

The six was smashed out for the park. The ball landed near the bushes and got lost in them. The ground staff rushed towards bushes to find the ball. Some Netherland players too accompanied the ground staff to find the ball in the bushes. Meanwhile, both the batsman had a small chat.

After being invited to bat first, England lost the early wicket of Jason Roy. But centuries of Philip Salt and Dawid Malan took England to a dominating position. Later Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone played with full freedom. Buttler scored 162 runs in 70 balls while Livingstone scored 66 runs in 22 balls.

“Playing against India and South Africa will test us” – England captain Eoin Morgan

England scored 498 runs in the first ODI which is the highest total ever in the history of ODI Cricket. Captain Eoin Morgan failed to open his account today. Morgan believes that this series is crucial for the England team considering that there is an ODI World Cup next year.

“At the moment it revolves around trying to get the right players in the right roles given the squad we’ve brought. July’s a huge month for us in preparation for the World Cup, playing against two very strong sides [India and South Africa] over the course of a month, which will test us,” Morgan said.
