CSK suffered their inaugural home loss of the season and a second consecutive defeat overall, placing them in a precarious fifth position on the points table with four victories in eight matches.
Meanwhile, LSG secured their second consecutive win, elevating them to the top four with 10 points from eight matches. They also achieved a double over CSK, having previously defeated them at home on April 19.
“It was really special to come back and win from such a difficult positionâ- KL Rahul
LSG captain KL Rahul was pleased with the team’s determination to achieve an unlikely victory despite trailing for most of the chase.
The team batting second was in trouble at 88/3 after 11 overs, needing 123 runs from 54 balls. But then Nicholas Pooran scored 34 runs quickly in just 15 balls, giving the team a boost. Later, Marcus Stoinis finished the job in the last few overs to seal the incredible win.
During the post-match presentation, Rahul stated:
“Very special, especially when itâs a game like that. We were way behind the game when we were batting so it was very special to pull it off. It was a fresh start, both teams started off at 0. Different conditions here.â
â I think they started off really well and put us under pressure. 170-180 wouldâve been a great total here but they batted really well. Full credit to Stoinis. It was not just power hitting, it was very clever batting.â
Even though LSG is a new team in the IPL, they made it to the playoffs in 2022 and 2023. Now, they aim to keep up their winning streak in their upcoming match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday, April 27th.
