AB de Villiers delivered a brilliant performance to lead South Africa Champions to the WCL 2025 title, earning the Player of the Tournament award after scoring his third century of the competition—an unbeaten knock in the final against Pakistan. The team secured a convincing nine-wicket win to claim their first-ever World Championship of Legends trophy.
However, it was the post-match celebration that drew widespread attention online. After the victory, the South African players gathered for the trophy presentation, where Wayne Parnell stood out by performing the popular ‘aura farming’ dance in front of the ‘Champions’ board—a move that has recently gained popularity on social media.

With the rest of the team standing behind him, Parnell took the lead in the dance, while his teammates followed along by imitating rowing actions. The routine is based on a viral video featuring a young boy dancing during a boat race at Indonesia’s Pacu Jalur festival, which recently gained popularity on social media.
De Villiers’ 120 leads South Africa to maiden WCL title
The South Africa Champions delivered a commanding performance in the final against the Pakistan Champions to secure their maiden WCL title. AB de Villiers was the star of the show, scoring a brilliant 120 off just 60 balls* as South Africa chased down the target of 196 with 19 balls remaining.
Despite struggling physically during his innings, he remained composed and in control. JP Duminy provided solid support with an unbeaten 50 off 28 balls, sealing the win with a six. The victory celebrations, highlighted by Parnell’s dance, quickly gained attention on social media.
Behind the light-hearted moment was a South African team that had shown consistency and strength throughout the tournament. The phrase “aura farming”—used to describe moments of effortless style and confidence—has recently become popular online and was fittingly associated with de Villiers’ performances.
De Villiers dominated the tournament, scoring more than double the runs of any other batter, showing remarkable form despite returning to the game four years after retiring in 2021. Parnell also played a key role in the team’s success, taking 11 wickets and delivering crucial spells in the knockout stages.
