India opener Abhishek Sharma provided the ideal start for the hosts in the third T20I against South Africa in Dharamsala. Chasing a modest target of 118, the left-hander got India underway by dispatching Lungi Ngidi for a six off the very first ball. Ngidi strayed onto Abhishek’s pads, and the opener made it look effortless as he flicked the delivery over fine leg for a maximum.

The aggressive left-hander had also begun the innings with a six on multiple occasions during the Asia Cup 2025.
Abhishek Sharma And Shubman Gill Share 50-Run Start In Dharamsala
After modest returns in the first two matches, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill found their rhythm in Dharamsala. Abhishek took on the attacking role as the duo brought up a 50-run opening partnership inside five overs. Gill, who had been dismissed for a golden duck in the second T20I at Mullanpur, had a close call early on but survived an lbw appeal in Marco Jansen’s opening over.
The Indian vice-captain then settled into his innings and guided the chase calmly. However, South Africa drew first blood when Corbin Bosch struck in his maiden over, dismissing Abhishek for a brisk 35 off 18 balls. Earlier in the match, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav made a crucial call at the toss, opting to bowl first with dew expected later in the evening.
Harshit Rana came in for Jasprit Bumrah and made an immediate impact, claiming two wickets in his first two overs. Arshdeep Singh also made early inroads with the new ball, removing Quinton de Kock, before cleaning up Aiden Markram for 61 towards the end. Varun Chakaravarthy was India’s most economical bowler, returning excellent figures of 4-0-11-2 as South Africa were bundled out for 117.
