Abhishek Sharma pulled off a brilliant catch to dismiss Saim Ayub during the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 encounter between India and Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday, September 21. The effort not only sent Ayub back for 21 off 17 balls, extending his poor run in the tournament, but also broke a 72-run stand with Sahibzada Farhan.
The breakthrough came in the 11th over when Shivam Dube bowled a short-of-length delivery on middle and leg. Ayub attempted a big shot but only managed a top edge towards deep backward square. Abhishek ran in, dived forward, and completed the catch safely with both hands.
The wicket gave Dube an immediate impact, striking in his very first over against Pakistan and further boosting India’s momentum. You can watch the video here:

India halt Pakistan with crucial wickets in Super 4 clash
India maintained control over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 clash thanks to disciplined bowling from Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube. At 12.2 overs, Pakistan were 106/2, with Sahibzada Farhan and Hussain Talat in the middle. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India will be aiming for consecutive wins against Pakistan, having beaten them convincingly by seven wickets in the group stage last week.
The defending champions also enter the Super 4s on the back of three straight victories over the UAE, Pakistan, and Oman. Earlier, India brought back World No. 1 spinner Varun Chakaravarthy and star pacer Jasprit Bumrah into the XI. The tournament’s most successful side is chasing a record-extending ninth Asia Cup crown.
