[WATCH] Adam Zampa Dismisses Virat Kohli With A Stunning Delivery

Viral Kohli, the backbone of India’s batting line-up, was dismissed for 84 runs off 98 balls in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final against Australia at the Dubai International Stadium. The right-hander was looking set for his 83rd international century, however, this was not to be as he lost his wicket in trying to go big off the bowling of Adam Zampa.   

Earlier, Australia were bowled out for 264 after opting to bat first.  In reply, India lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill early. However, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer revived India’s innings by putting on 91 runs for the third wicket. But, Adam Zampa ended Shreyas Iyer’s 45-run knock in the 27th over.

Zampa’s Wily Delivery dismisses Virat

Adam Zampa, known for his variations and ability to pick up crucial wickets, once again demonstrated his value to the Australian team. He delivered a “googly” that appeared to be turning away, which induced Virat Kohli to hit a slog towards long-on. However, The ball traveled directly to Ben Dwarshuis, who took a vital low catch. ^{This was a crucial wicket for Australia as Virat Kohli was batting very well and was on route to scoring a century.}   

Kohli’s Controlled Aggression

During his innings, Virat Kohli was very controlled and was playing with calculated aggression, he was keeping the scoreboard ticking while maintaining the required run rate. He hit many singles and doubles, and some timely boundaries. With this innings Virat Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar in having the most half-centuries in ICC ODI events. He also became the second player in cricket history to score 8,000 runs in ODI run-chases. ^{He seemed set for a century, But Zampas skills brought his innings to an end.}   

The Match’s Turning Point

Kohli’s dismissal proved to be a turning point in the match. His departure injected renewed hope into the Australian camp, while simultaneously placing increased pressure on India’s remaining batsmen. The tension in the stadium was palpable as the game hung in the balance. Though Virat scored a well made 84, it was Zampa’s smart bowling that took the valuable wicket.
