[WATCH]- Arshdeep Singh Honored With A Guard Of Honor At Jaswant Rai Academy In Chandigarh

Team India rapid bowler Arshdeep Singh was appreciated with a Guard of Honour by youthful cricketers at Jaswant Rai Academy in Chandigarh on July 10, after his win in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Earlier, a jubilant parade was arranged for him in the city on July 6.

Arshdeep made significant contributions throughout the tournament last month, particularly excelling with the ball in crucial moments. His performance in the final against South Africa on June 29, especially during the penultimate over, stood out as a pivotal moment in his career.

Facing a challenging task with South Africa requiring 20 runs within the last two overs, Arshdeep bowled, exceptionally allowing only four runs and grabbing two wickets. His tight spell of four overs, allowing just 20 runs in total, played a vital role as India marked their second T20 World Cup win.

The Indian fast bowler, along with Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi, shared the highest number of wickets at the 2024 T20 World Cup. He achieved a total of 17 wickets in eight matches, averaging 12.64 during the tournament.

“I was in disbelief” – Arshdeep observed coach Rahul Dravid displaying emotion upon winning the T20 World Cup

The Indian fast bowler was surprised to witness coach Rahul Dravid showing emotion after the T20 World Cup victory. He remarked that Dravid appeared entirely different that day. Singh also expressed satisfaction that the team could give Dravid a fitting farewell.

He stated to The Indian Express: “Rahul sir has always been like ice. He keeps writing something in his diary. He keeps a straight face in the tense situations as well. But what I saw after the final… it was like watching a different Rahul Dravid.”

“The way he was screaming with the trophy. I was in disbelief. He has done so much for Indian cricket as a player and now as a coach. This was a long-due reward,” he continued.

Gautam Gambhir, former Indian batsman, has been named the new head coach of the India men’s cricket team.
