With India winning the game by six runs in the last moments of the fifth and final Test at The Oval, the five-Test series was drawn 2-2 after a keenly contested affair. Yashasvi Jaiswal was crucial for India, having played in all five Tests and scoring 411 runs at an average of 41.10; he scored two centuries and two fifties. The series was spread over six weeks of fine cricket, with both teams giving their best in pursuit of the win.

Siraj gained glory on the final day with 5 for 104 when he declared the England innings closed on 367. Celebrations in the Indian camp erupted with Siraj’s final wicket of Gus Atkinson (17). Siraj thus not only won India the match but also returned as Player of the Match, having taken 23 wickets in the series.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Special Moment

While entering the team bus after the match, a funny little incident caught the attention of people outside the stadium. A young fan was yelling, “Jaiswal! Jaiswal!” as Jaiswal bid good-bye to the ground. Arshdeep Singh, who was walking behind Jaiswal, found the chanted name so amusing that he went ahead and mockingly mimicked that high-pitched call.

This spontaneous reaction from the players made Jaiswal break into laughter, instilling a nice feeling of camaraderie between the two athletes and standing as a testimony to the bond shared among these team members. While Jaiswal himself laughed with glee, warmed by Arshdeep echoing a young bud’s voice, it was certainly one of those lighter moments of the game.

The series has ended, but the memories of exhilarating matches and these small yet cherished moments will forever linger. India, as a team, secured the series victory, with Siraj’s stellar performance providing the icing on the cake. Jaiswal’s crafty batting and Arshdeep’s antics only added to the excitement of the series.
