Kieron Pollard

In Yesterday’s match of TATA IPL 2022 between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, we saw a bizarre accident between Kieron Pollard and umpire Chris Gaffaney.

Pollard and controversial decisions and his reactions to it is kind of a better story than twilight. He has previously shown his emotions and distress towards the umpires when the decision didn’t favour his team or him.

One of the incidents that comes best to mind is when a wide ball wasn’t given by the umpire in the IPL final against Chennai Super Kings in 2019. Pollard showed his anger in his own way as he stood at the wide line where the previous ball was bowled and it was signalled a dead ball as Pollard moved before the bowler could bowl.

In the first innings against KKR, Mumbai Indians were fielding. One of his ball that he bowled near the wide line was signalled wide by the umpire and Pollard showed his emotions on that decision there.

Later on, in a bizarre incident while bowling the ball slipped out of Pollard’s hand and hit umpire Chris Gaffaney. Luckily, the ball was floating and didn’t hit him that hard and he was good to continue. Infact Pollard, The umpire and MI skipper Rohit Sharma were seen sharing a good laugh about it.

Kolkata defeat Mumbai by 52 runs

Mumbai Indians were able to restrict the Kolkata side to 165 after 20 overs due to a sensational spell by Jasprit Bumrah. He took a fifer and gave away just ten runs in his quota of four overs. He was back to his brilliant best as he took three wickets in an over and that over was also a maiden one.

In reply, Mumbai Indians kept losing wickets at regular intervals and fell short of the target by 52 runs. Ishan Kishan was the lone warrior for MI as he played a 51-run knock.
