“Our bond is beyond the game and will always be”. These were Virat Kohli’s words after AB de Villiers announced retirement from all forms of cricket last year. The two modern greats have played 11 seasons together for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. Both of them share a great bond and have shown admiration for each other on frequent occasions.
The former India skipper recently showed again, why the ABD-Virat duo is unmatched.
On day 1 of the Pink-ball Test between India and Sri Lanka at Chinnaswamy stadium, a section of crowd was heard shouting “ABD ABD”. Kohli who was standing at first slip, heard the chants and responded by turning towards the spectators and imitating AB de Viliers’ famous ‘Reverse Scoop’ shot.
It should be noted that AB de Villiers is famously called ‘Mr 360 degree’ for his ability to play shots in any corner of the cricket field.

Faf du Plessis named new RCB captain
RCB, on Saturday named South African batter Faf du Plessis as the new captain for the franchise. Virat Kohli congratulated Faf and expressed his excitement to play under him.
“First and foremost, the most important news is that Faf is going to be the captain of RCB and I couldn’t be happier to pass on the baton to a good friend, someone I have known well over the years,” Kohli said in a video posted on RCB’s social media handles.

AB de Villiers also reacted to Faf’s appointment. The former RCB cricketer, who has spendt many years with du Plessis in the South African dressing room, praised du Plessis’ tactical acumen and called him an incredible leader.
“This announcement comes as no surprise to me after RCB picked up Faf at the auction. He’s an amazing leader and the perfect man for the job. He has a fantastic tactical mind and Faf will have great support around him. No doubt that he will do a wonderful job for the RCB family. All the very best, my good friend and all the very best, team RCB. Ee Sala Cup Namde.”, de Villiers said.
