Bangladesh held their nerves to beat Zimbabwe in a last-ball thriller to stay alive played at the Gabba in Brisbane on October 30. The Bangla Tigers successfully defended 150 runs to win their first T20 World Cup 2022 game. 4
Bangladesh captain Shakib AL Hasan won the toss and decided to bat first. Najimul Shanto’s brilliant knock of 71 along with Shakib’s 23 and Afif Hossain’s 29 helped them post 150 for 7. The rest of the batting order struggled against disciplined Zimbabwe bowling.
Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman broke the backbone of Zimbabwe’s top order. Sean Williams and Ryan Burl steadied the ship putting pressure on Bangladesh’s bowling lineup. Shakib AL Hasan produced a stunning direct hit to dismiss Sean Williams in the 19th over changing the momentum in favour of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh secure their first win in T20 World Cup 2022
Mossadek Hossain showed his nerves by getting rid of Brad Evans. Richard Ngavara smashed 1 four and 1 six to change the momentum again in favour of Zimbabwe. Hossain held onto their nerves as he dismissed Ngavara. Nurul Hasan stumped Muzabrani but it was called a no-ball as the wicketkeeper took the stumps. Mossadek held onto his nerves to beat Zimbabwe by 3 runs to stay alive in the tournament.
Shakib Al Hasan struggled with his bowling giving away 34 runs in his 4 overs. Shakib produced a lovely direct hit that changed the momentum again. The match twisted from one side to another before Bangladesh won the match by just 3 runs.
Bangladesh moved to second place and hoping to perform much better against Pakistan and India in the upcoming two matches. For his 3 for 19 in 4 overs, Taskin Ahmed was named the player of the match.
