England skipper Ben Stokes pulled off a spectacular run-out to send Ravindra Jadeja back to the pavilion during the first Test against India on Sunday, January 28 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. This proved to be a turning moment for England in the match as they defeated India by 28 runs.
The incident took place during the thirty-ninth over of the Indian second innings. Joe Root bowled a full-toss to Ravindra Jadeja, who drove it in front of the mid-on fielder. He set off for a run. Ben Stokes who was at the fielding position charged in and collected the ball. He reversed flicked the ball onto the stumps at the bowler’s end to dismiss Ravindra Jadeja, who fell short of the crease. The Indian all-rounder had to walk back to the pavilion for just two runs.

Ben Stokes’ outstanding effort left every amazed. Murali Kartik, who was on commentary during that time, called it “Sheer brilliance”. With that wicket, India was reduced to six wickets in the innings, chasing 231 runs.
England secures historic win
England defeated India by 28 runs pulling off a historic win on Sunday, January 28 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. They bowled India out for 202 runs, with Tom Hartley taking seven wickets in the innings. Earlier, England managed 246 runs, batting first in the Test match. In response, India took a first-innings lead of 190 runs, scoring 436. In the second innings, England put on 420, on the back of a brilliant knock by Ollie Pope, who also won the Player of the Match award. He smashed 196 runs in the innings, slamming 21 boundaries.
England have taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series against India. The second Test is set to take place from Feb 2 at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
