Blake Coburn, sprinting across, dived full length to grab hold of the ball, only to realize his jump would take him beyond the boundary rope. Still, in the air, he had the presence of mind to release the ball back into the field of play and towards his teammate Hay, who had run across in support. Hay had the simple job of completing the catch, leaving all onlookers awestruck.

Batting first Central Districts. Were struggling 73-3 at the halfway stage, Central Districts accelerated and scored 144 from the last 10 overs, ending, with 217/4 with Tom Bruce topping the Run charts making 93 runs while Dane Cleaver scored 61 off 32. For Canterbury, Will Williams was the pick of the bowlers picking 2 Wickets
That acceleration was nothing compared to Canterbury’s however. They made their way to 128-4 after 14 overs, needing 90 runs off the last seven overs at 12.85 runs per over. They gunned down the target with 16 balls to spare thanks to a sixth-wicket stand of 87 runs in 24 balls.
Henry Shipley hit 39* off 11, and Cam Fletcher 48* off 21 in the process to seal a remarkable victory for Canterbury. Still, the game will surely be remembered for Coburn’s spectacular effort, even if, in the book, it simply says ‘caught Hay’.
