Asked to bat first at the Wankhede Faf du Plessis got Chennai Super Kings off a good start after Ruturaj Gaikwad’s failure. The young fast bowler from Saurashtra – Chetan Sakariya was impressive again as the youngster claimed three wickets, which also included the wicket of MS Dhoni.
Chris Morris hurls a mouthful at Chetan Sakariya
Chris Morris was pretty economical until he bowled that 19th over. He got a couple of wickets, but he was really frustrated after bowling his final over where he went for plenty. The Proteas all-rounder was seen shouting at Sakariya after a midfield. It was a length ball around off and Dwayne Bravo has lofted it over extra cover for a boundary. He punished the next ball too as he played a square drive that beat two fielders.
Although Chetan Sakariya and Mustafizur Rahman went after the ball, they couldn’t stop it and the ball went for another boundary which left the bowler angry with them, especially Sakariya, who had failed to field the ball at the first time despite putting a dive. Chris Morris was certainly unhappy with the effort and was seen hurling a mouthful at the youngster.

Meanwhile, in the second half, Chennai Super Kings put the squeeze on in the middle overs and buried the game dead during that phase. All of that wouldn’t have happened without the brilliant spell of Sam Curran who bowled three inside the powerplay with figures of 2/12. Jos Buttler tried to steer the run chase but succumbed to pressure. The presence of Shivam Dube only added up to the required run rate as the all-rounder struggled to rotate strike against spinners.
Ravindra Jadeja owned the field in the second innings as he got involved in six of the nine RR’s dismissals. Jaddu put up a fielding clinic on the field and his athletic abilities were on full display, yet again proving why he’s regarded as the best fielder in the world. Rajasthan Royals could only manage 143 runs; thus, falling short by 45 runs.
