It’s noteworthy that on November 15 of this year, Babar Azam relinquished his role as the captain of the Pakistan cricket team, a decision prompted by the team’s lacklustre performance in the Cricket World Cup 2023. Pakistan’s disappointing campaign saw them lose five out of nine matches, failing to secure a spot in the semifinals. Babar himself faced criticism for both his captaincy and his modest form with the bat, amassing 320 runs in nine matches.

Following Babar’s departure, Shan Masood assumed the position of Test captain, while Shaheen Afridi took charge as the T20I captain. The decision drew varied reactions from teammates, with some expressing admiration for Babar’s leadership contributions, while others remained silent on the matter.

In a lighter off-field moment, Babar Azam and Sarfaraz Ahmed attended a Qawwali night preceding teammate Imam-ul-Haq’s wedding in Lahore. Sarfaraz, visibly enjoying the music, had Babar and Usman Qadir seated beside him. The camaraderie was palpable as Babar sported a smile while Sarfaraz danced to the tune of ‘Mera piya ghar aaya’. It’s noteworthy that Imam’s wedding ceremony (nikah) is scheduled for Saturday, November 25, followed by the wedding reception on Sunday, November 26.
