Rishabh Pant received a standing ovation from the crowd at Old Trafford, Manchester, on Day 2 of the fourth Test between India and England, held on Thursday, July 24. The loud applause followed Pant’s brave decision to return to bat despite suffering a foot injury on the opening day.
The injury occurred when he attempted a reverse sweep against a yorker bowled by Chris Woakes. Pant resumed his innings from 37 not out after India lost their sixth wicket at the score of 314. Sharing a clip of the moment on X (formerly Twitter), England Cricket captioned:

Dhruv Jurel Steps In As Wicketkeeper For Fourth Test After Pant Injury
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Day 2 that Dhruv Jurel will take over wicketkeeping responsibilities in the fourth Test following Rishabh Pant’s injury. In an official update posted on X, the board stated:
“𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: Rishabh Pant, who sustained an injury to his right foot on Day 1 of the Manchester Test, will not be performing wicketkeeping duties for the remainder of the match. Dhruv Jurel will assume the role of wicketkeeper. Despite his injury, Rishabh Pant has joined the team on Day 2 and will be available to bat as per team requirements.”

Dhruv Jurel had earlier taken over wicketkeeping duties in the third Test at Lord’s after Rishabh Pant injured his finger during England’s first innings. According to reports, N Jagadeeshan is expected to be named as Pant’s replacement for the fifth and final Test at The Oval in London, starting July 31.
In the rain-hit fourth Test, India reached 321/6 at early Lunch. Pant (39*) and Sundar (20*) are the last recognized pair. Ben Stokes leads England’s bowling with three wickets.
