A few Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans were reportedly stopped from bringing CSK flags into Ekana International Stadium ahead of their IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday, April 14. A video captured the fans arguing with a volunteer outside the stadium.
Although the match was an away game for CSK, the fans showed up in large numbers, largely due to MS Dhoni’s return as captain after Ruturaj Gaikwad’s elbow injury. Despite a challenging season for the five-time champions, the fans remain hopeful that they can turn things around. You can watch the video here:
Nice work by the friends @LucknowIPL Taking away flags as well, flag sticks we can understand but flags also not allowed ?! 😲
You may take our flags but can’t stop us paint the stadium yellow with our Superfans ! 💛 #WhistlePodu #CSK #Yellove pic.twitter.com/qJl5dGFV3u

This is also the first encounter between the Super Kings and the Super Giants in IPL 2025. The Super Giants have a solid head-to-head record, having won three out of the five matches played.
CSK Announce Two Changes After MS Dhoni Wins the Toss at Ekana Stadium
CSK won the toss and opted to bowl first, with MS Dhoni mentioning that dew could be a factor in the second half of the game. The visiting team made two changes, bringing in Shaik Rasheed and Jamie Overton in place of Ravichandran Ashwin and Devon Conway.
The home team, the Super Giants, made one change, bringing Mitchell Marsh back for Himmat Singh after Marsh missed the previous match due to his daughter’s illness. The Super Kings, who have won five IPL titles, have struggled in their first six games, losing five.
Their loss to the Knight Riders was particularly disappointing, as they were limited to 103/9 in 20 overs, with the Knight Riders easily chasing down the total with eight wickets to spare. In contrast, the Super Giants are coming off a six-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans. At the time of writing, CSK had already dismissed Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran cheaply.
