South African cricketer David Miller delivered a remarkable unbeaten century in the 2025 Champions Trophy semifinal against New Zealand at Gaddafi Stadium. The left-hander marked the milestone with a special celebration, dedicating his achievement to his newborn baby.
The high-stakes semifinal was held on March 5 in Lahore, where New Zealand secured a 50-run victory over South Africa. Chasing a daunting target of 363, the Proteas managed to score 312/9 in their 50 overs. Without Miller’s heroic innings, South Africa’s defeat could have been even more significant.
At one stage, they were struggling at 218/8, but Miller, batting with the tail, single-handedly pushed the total past 300. He reached his century on the final ball of the match. Despite South Africa’s loss, Miller celebrated the feat with a heartfelt cradle gesture, dedicating it to his newborn.

The ICC’s video has garnered over 200,000 likes on Instagram, with cricket fans worldwide praising David Miller for his resilient innings in the intense semifinal clash.
David Miller had also reached a century in the semifinal of the 2023 ODI World Cup
The South African cricket team has a history of faltering under pressure on major international stages. However, David Miller has emerged as one of the few players who thrives in high-stakes situations, consistently delivering for his team when it matters most.
In the 2023 ODI World Cup semifinal against Australia at Eden Gardens, Miller played a valiant knock, scoring a century that kept South Africa in the contest. His resilience was again on display in the 2024 T20 World Cup final against India, where he remained at the crease until the last over, fighting to take his team over the line.
Despite his match-winning abilities and numerous standout performances, Miller is yet to win an ICC trophy, as South Africa continues its quest for global success. With his aggressive batting and calm demeanor under pressure, the left-handed batter remains a key figure in the team’s middle order.
Miller will soon turn his focus to franchise cricket, where he is set to represent the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025.
