The first ODI between India and South Africa is underway at Boland Park. After the lows of the Test Series, India would be keen to start off the white-ball leg with a comprehensive win here.
With South Africa winning the toss and choosing to bat, India were eager for early wickets. Jasprit Bumrah provided just that, having Janneman Malan caught behind within the powerplay. Ravichandran Ashwin was not to be left behind, cleaning up Quinton de Kock just when he was starting to look dangerous.
Aiden Markram has been one of the batting mainstays for South Africa in the last few years, making it critical to dismiss him before he settles in. With the game in the balance at 68/2, South African batsman Aiden Markram was run out by Venkatesh Iyer, who is making his ODI debut.
He was found short by quite some distance which goes on to show the sharpness of the throw by Venkatesh from the mid-off region.

With another wicket down, India have well and truly gotten into the South African middle-order, having them at 68/3 and it’s time to apply pressure and restrict them to a reasonable score that can easily be chased down by KL Rahul and his men.
But South African skipper Temba Bavuma staged a revival alongside Rassie van der Dussen to cross the 150-run landmark. They will hope to build on this and post a challenging total on the board.
