Team India’s wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel’s remarkable innings on Day 2 of the opening Test against the West Indies came to a close thanks to Khary Pierre. The left-arm spinner claimed his maiden Test wicket as Jurel, the right-handed batter, was dismissed after scoring 125 runs from 210 balls at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, October 3.
Jurel notched his first Test century in the third session, showcasing a composed batting display after coming in at No. 5 in place of Rishabh Pant. Even after reaching the milestone, the wicket-keeper aimed to keep up the scoring rate, taking on Jomel Warrican for four boundaries while Ravindra Jadeja inched closer to his own hundred from the opposite end.
In the 123rd over of the innings, Pierre put Jurel under pressure with three consecutive dot balls. Attempting a gentle drive off the final delivery, the batter ended up edging the ball faintly to wicket-keeper Shai Hope, who completed a sharp catch to dismiss him. You can watch the video here:
