[WATCH]- Dhruv Jurel’s Spectacular Catch Helps Bumrah Strike In 4th Test

India’s substitute wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel pulled off a superb diving catch to dismiss England’s Jamie Smith, handing Jasprit Bumrah his first wicket of the innings. The moment unfolded on Day 3 (Friday, July 25) of the ongoing fourth Test at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

The breakthrough came on the first ball of the 125th over. Bumrah delivered a good-length delivery that moved away just enough off the seam. Smith, attempting a defensive shot away from his body, edged it faintly, and Dhruv Jurel reacted sharply, diving forward to complete an excellent catch.

England Take Control As Joe Root Slams Majestic 150 In 4th Test

In reply to India’s first-innings score of 358, England ended Day 2 strongly at 225/2, with Ollie Pope on 20 and Joe Root on 11. The pair batted confidently on the morning of Day 3, putting on 107 runs in 28 overs. Their partnership flourished into a 144-run stand for the third wicket before Washington Sundar provided a crucial breakthrough, dismissing Pope for 71.

Sundar struck again shortly after, removing Harry Brook for just three runs. Joe Root then joined forces with captain Ben Stokes to shift the momentum further in England’s favour. The duo guided the hosts past India’s total with only four wickets down. Root went on to score his 38th Test century and moved up to second on the all-time Test run-scorers list.

Their partnership yielded 142 runs from 215 balls before Stokes had to retire hurt on 66 (off 116 deliveries). Root’s stellar innings came to an end at 150, undone by Ravindra Jadeja. Shortly after, Jasprit Bumrah got on the scoreboard by dismissing Jamie Smith for nine.

At the time of reporting, England stood at 528/6 after 129 overs, holding a 170-run lead, with Liam Dawson on 16 and Chris Woakes unbeaten on 4.
